TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The University of Arizona has yet another former player forever etched in history as an NBA first-round draft pick.
On Wednesday, June 25, the San Antonio Spurs selected Carter Bryant with the 14th overall pick.
Bryant, who only started five games for the Wildcats, is a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward from Riverside, California. He averaged 6.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for the University of Arizona last season.
Bryant joins an impressive list of former Wildcats to go in the first round of the draft.
Some of the other legends include Sean Elliot (No. 3 overall by the Spurs in 1989), Damon Stoudamire (No. 7 overall by the Raptors in 1995), Mike Bibby (No. 2 overall by the Grizzlies in 1998), Jason Terry (No. 10 overall by the Hawks in 1999), Richard Jefferson (No. 13 overall by the Rockets in 2001), Andre Iguodala (No. 9 overball by the 76ers in 2004), Deandre Ayton (No. 1 overall by the Suns in 2018), and Bennedict Mathurin (No. 6 overall by the Pacers in 2022).
Other Wildcat players from last season who could be drafted are Jaden Bradley, Motiejus Krivas, and KJ Lewis.
The second round of the draft is set for Thursday night. It will start at 5 p.m. and will be on ESPN.
The Wildcats have also had other players taken later in the draft who turned out to be pretty good. Some of those on that list include Steve Kerr (No. 50 overall by the Suns in 1988), and Gilbert Arenas (No. 31 overall by the Warriors in 2001).
