Despite many rumors that the Spurs may look to trade the 14th pick, which was acquired from the Atlanta Hawks for Dejounte Murray, the Spurs ended up keeping it and selecting forward Carter Bryant from Arizona. (Sean Elliott will be happy!)
At 6’7”, Bryant is described as a “bouncy”, athletic forward who as of now is a considered a 3-and-D player but has room for offensive growth. In his lone season at Arizona, he averaged 6.5 points on 46/37/70 shooting, 4.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.9 steals. He has a strong driving game to go with being a good spot-up shooter, although he is not known for creating his own shot. On defense, he’s considered an especially strong shot blocker for a wing.
Bryant joins second overall pick Dylan Harper in coming to San Antonio, and as of now, the Spurs do no own anymore picks in this draft after trading their second round pick earlier in the evening. However, that can always change, so stay tuned. We will have more on what this pick means for the Spurs soon, but in the meantime, welcome to San Antonio, Carter!
