The first round of the NBA Draft on Wednesday was a joyous time for many players who got drafted. Their childhood dream of getting chosen by an NBA came true. But for Collin Murray-Boyles, the moment was overshadowed by some disappointment.
Murray-Boyles was selected No. 9 overall by the Toronto Raptors. He did not seem happy about the selection. He was seen looking down and shaking his head. He even dropped an F-bomb.

Did Murray-Boyles not want to go to Toronto? The Raptors went 30-52 last season. They’re rebuilding and have only had one winning season in the last five years. Perhaps that isn’t something Murray-Boyles wants to be a part of. Or maybe he saw what Pascal Siakam said about his time with the Raptors and is not thrilled.
It’s not the greatest sign to see a player react to being drafted by dropping an F-bomb, though the Raptors are not worried. They shared a post on X to set the record straight.

Murray-Boyles also tried to clarify things in comments to the media.
“What I said was not a bad thing,” Murray-Boyles said. “Just very thankful for it. That was a very surreal moment.”

Murray-Boyles averaged 16.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game as a sophomore for South Carolina last season. His girlfriend, who is also a basketball player, stole the show at the draft.
