Manchester United have reportedly identified KRC Genk striker Tolu Arokodare as an alternative target to Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Ruben Amorim was hoping to re-unite with Gyokeres, who he managed at Sporting CP, however, it was reported that the Swedish international is instead holding out for a move to Arsenal, who have been in talks regarding a move for him.
With that in mind, Amorim will need to find alternative targets to go after this summer as he hopes to fill the vacant number nine spot at Manchester United, after poor seasons from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

It now seems that a suitable alternative has been identified, and it comes in the form of KRC Genk talisman Tolu Arokodare. According to a report by the Daily Star, Manchester United want to sign the 24-year-old, who is reportedly valued at around £20m.
Last season, the Nigerian striker scored 23 goals and provided seven assists for Genk, he was the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League, and is beginning to catch the eye of some big European clubs.
Furthermore, it is no secret that Arokodare wants to join Manchester United, as he admitted in an interview with SportsBoom: “Obviously, it’s a dream to play in the Premier League, but I have my eyes on it for sure. Whatever options I have, I’ll take my time and make the best decision. I’m a Manchester United fan, and if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family. Of course, it would be a dream come true.”
What other strikers have Manchester United been linked to?
As they aim to replace Hojlund, who could be on his way out this summer, United have also been linked to Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. However, the Frenchman is expected to cost around £85m, something that Manchester United likely can’t afford yet.
Furthermore, the Red Devils have also been linked to signing Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins in somewhat of a shock deal. It has previously been said that United would love to do a swap deal, bringing Watkins to Old Trafford, and Marcus Rashford permanently to Aston Villa.
Napoli’s Victor Osimhen also remains a target for the Red Devils. He has also been linked to rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. Osimhen was supberb last season, netting 26 goals in 30 league games whilst on loan at Galatsasaray.
