Kings Make Bold First-Round Decision in 2025 NBA Draft

The first round of the 2025 NBA Draft is currently taking place and there has been a ton of moves taking place during it.

Of course, the Dallas Mavericks selected Cooper Flagg first overall and the San Antonio Spurs followed by selecting Dylan Harper second overall.

While there was not much movement in the first 10 picks, multiple trades have since taken place and that once again happened with the 24th overall selection which originally belonged to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Thunder traded the 24th overall pick to the Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento entered the night without a first-round pick after their original selection was sent to the Atlanta Hawks due to a prior trade.

Despite this, it had been reported that the Kings were looking to trade into the first round and that is exactly what they were able to do by pulling off a deal with the Thunder.

With the 24th pick, the Kings selected Colorado State guard Nique Clifford to upgrade their backcourt.

In his senior season with the Rams last season, the 23-year-old averaged 18.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.32 steals per game while shooting 49.6% from the field and 37.7% from three-point range.

Clifford has great size for his position as he is listed at 6-6, which allows him to be a great rebounder and he also improved as a playmaker last season at Colorado State.

He is also a great scorer who should make an immediate impact in Sacramento, especially due to their lack of guard depth.

Of course, the Kings could end up making more moves this offseason as DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk and Devin Carter have all been in trade rumors and because of this, they felt like Clifford was a perfect addition to their roster heading into next season.
