‘Dream come true’: 23-goal striker admits he would love to sign for Manchester United amid scouting missions

Manchester United’s search for a new striker has seen some huge names linked, but Ruben Amorim could yet go a little left-field.

Rasmus Hojlund only managed four Premier League goals this past season, leaving Manchester United in the market for another striker.

Viktor Gyokeres is one United target, and the Swede may be Amorim’s preferred signing, having worked together at Sporting.

Arsenal also want Gyokeres, though, and their status as a Champions League club could win them the race.

United need to look for alternatives, and one interesting name is on the Old Trafford radar.

United In Focus understands that United have scouted KRC Genk striker Tolu Arokodare ahead of a potential summer move.

Tolu Arokodare on Manchester United interest

Arokodare was a goal machine for Genk last season, smashing 23 goals in 45 games during his second season in Belgium.

The 24-year-old forward is now on United’s radar and would be a much cheaper alternative to Gyokeres.

Arokodare may not be a big name right now, but United have certainly spotted his potential after a big season with Genk.

Arokodare has now told Sports Boom that it is his ‘dream’ to play in the Premier League – and especially for United.

The Nigerian striker claims to be a United fan, admitting that a move to Old Trafford this summer would ‘mean a lot’ not just to him, but also to his family.

“Obviously, it’s a dream to play in the Premier League, but I have my eyes on it for sure. Whatever options I have, I’ll take my time and make the best decision,” said Arokodare.

“I’m a Manchester United fan, and if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family. Of course, it would be a dream come true,” he added.

Arokodare has taken an interesting route to get to this point in his career.

After emerging in his native Nigeria, Arokodare made a bold move to Latvia with Valmiera.

Arokodare thrived with 22 goals in 34 games and spent time out on loan with FC Koln and Amiens.

A permanent move materialised in 2023 as Genk lured Arokodare to Belgium.

15 goals in his first season was a promising start, but last season saw Arokodare really break out as a star striker.

Arokodare is an enormous physical presence at 6ft 6in tall, and his aerial prowess has been utilised to great effect in Belgium.

United may believe Arokodare can make the transition to Premier League action, and the Nigerian is certainly a name to watch as United attempt to discover the next great Old Trafford goalscorer.
