Thunder draft Thomas Sorber AT #15

The Oklahoma City Thunder used the 15th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft to select Thomas Sorber, a 19-year-old out of Georgetown. Having scouted him for many minutes, I'd call him Zach Randolph with some lift. The 6'10, 255 lbs center/forward is a bulldozer with a 7-6 wingspan, averaging 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds his freshman season--a season cut short by a foot injury. He also stood tall in the paint, averaging Having scouted him for many months, no one in the media that I can find has reported what foot injury, exactly, was operated on this year. A few reports have called it a "toe injury", for what it's worth.

Injury qualms aside, Sorber looks like a worthy swing for the Thunder outside the lottery. The Thunder traded out of their other first rounder they entered the night owe, opting to send the #24 pick to Sacramento rather than spending it on another player this season.

Sorber is still incredibly raw in his development. He’s a bully in the middle who knows how to throw his weight around to demoralize defenders. Sorber knows he has the power advantage. Most importantly, he knows how to use it. Offensively, there’s a bundle of tools that look to just be clawing to be untapped. There’s some fantastic touch around the basket with both hands, as well as an intriguing outside shot as a kicker.

It’s worth noting that Isaiah Hartenstein's contract features a $28.5MM team option for 2026/27, when likely new deals for Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren will take effect. If he develops the way the Thunder hope, Sorber could be a long-term replacement for Hartenstein.
