Just as his name was announced, cameras caught Murray-Boyles dropping an F-bomb, which quickly went viral and sparked speculation—was the young prospect disappointed by the pick, or was it simply an emotional reaction?
Murray-Boyles later addressed the moment and clarified the outburst, explaining that he was simply overwhelmed with disbelief and gratitude.
"Just disbelief," Murray-Boyles explained in the Post-Draft presser. "Toronto is the first team that I worked out for. What I said was not a bad thing. Just very thankful. That was a surreal moment. This organization has a good history."
"I’m super excited," he added. "I know how passionate the fans are, how diverse the city of Toronto is. To see that and to be around that environment on a daily basis is something that is going to make me a better player overall. That environment is amazing, the city is great."
