Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund have held “new and positive” negotiations regarding Jamie Gittens according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The Blues are set for another busy summer and have already completed the signing of Liam Delap for £30m, with more new faces set to follow.
Chelsea face a critical window and are also in the market for a centre back, versatile attacker and left winger to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.
Chelsea and Dortmund hold positive Gittens negotiations
Whilst a striker was always the main priority, the Blues have now turned their attention to signing a winger and have identified Gittens as their main target.
Chelsea are currently short on numbers in the wide areas following the departure of Jadon Sancho, with Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto and Tyrique George the only wingers in the Club World Cup squad.
Gittens has already agreed personal terms on a seven year contract at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea and Dortmund are yet to reach and agreement.

The Blues had an offer of £42m rejected earlier this month, with Dortmund reportedly wanting £55m for Gittens, and Plettenberg has now provided an update.
He took to X.com and said:
“New and positive negotiations have taken place in the last few hours between Borussia Dortmund — led by boss Sebastian Kehl — and Chelsea regarding Jamie#Gittens.
“However, there is still no agreement or final decision.#BVB continue to demand €65 million. The feeling at Dortmund is that there are new several interested clubs — not just Chelsea.

Fofana and Garnacho alternative targets
If Chelsea are unable to agree a deal for Gittens they have identified Malick Fofana and Alejandro Garnacho as potential alternatives.
The Blues made a verbal enquiry to Lyon for Fofana, and the French club reportedly want €50m, but that may change following their relegation to the French second division.
Chelsea were heavily linked with Garnacho in January and those links haven’t gone away, and it’s thought United want around £40m for the Argentine.
