Real Madrid set asking price for Arsenal target Rodrygo as Gunners receive boost

Real Madrid have slapped a £77million price tag on Arsenal target Rodrygo's shoulders. The Gunners are keen to bolster their left-wing with an elite player this summer and Rodrygo has emerged as their preferred choice, especially with Nico Williams likely to make a switch to Barcelona.

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has also weighed in on the speculation, hailing Rodrygo as a "phenomenon" and expressing his desire for the winger to join him at the Emirates Stadium. Speaking to Brazilian podcast PodPah about Rodrygo, Gabriel said: "I'd like it obviously.

"He's a phenomenon. I've told people already, he's a phenomenon. If it was up to me, of course [I want him at Arsenal]!"

Spanish media outlet Cadena SER reports that there is a 'real possibility' of Rodrygo making a move to Arsenal. Despite having three years left on his contract, Real Madrid are reportedly demanding around €90million (£77million) for the Brazil international.

The report further suggests that Arsenal are not the only club eyeing Rodrygo, with Manchester City 'always there' and both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur showing interest last summer.

Rodrygo, currently playing for Real Madrid at the Club World Cup, has been a constant topic of discussion for new manager Xabi Alonso. Last month, Alonso stated: "He's a Madrid player and I will have a conversation with everyone because we need to do so,".

"We'll get to know each other. He's a spectacular player and we need him."

When asked about Rodrygo following Real Madrid's Club World Cup match against Al-Hilal, Alonso remarked: "I can tell you to a point.

"I know what happened, that the end of the season was not easy for him. He took some time that was good for him, to reset his head. We talked from day one and I see him looking forward to enjoying himself with his quality."

Arsenal are reportedly planning a squad overhaul by offloading several players to fund new signings. Kieran Tierney and Jorginho have already left on free transfers, while Nuno Tavares and Marquinhos have been linked with moves to Lazio and Cruzeiro, respectively.

Squad members Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior might be heading for exits in the summer transfer window. Speculation continues over the futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, with Bayern Munich showing interest in Martinelli and Trossard drawing attention from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
