Everton are aiming to add Kenny Tete to their squad this summer.

The full-back is out of contract this summer and could leave Fulham.

As a result, Everton are keen to sign Tete to finally end their woes at right-back.

Jake O’Brien had been used as a makeshift right-back last season due to the limited options available for David Moyes.

However, the signing of the defender could pose a serious risk for Everton.

Tete on a three-year deal is a massive risk for Everton

It was reported on Tuesday (24 June) that Fulham have tabled an improved contract offer to Tete in hopes of keeping the 29-year-old.

The Dutchman has been at the London club since 2020 and was part of the side that saw them return to the Premier League.

However, according to The Independent (25 June), Everton plan to derail these negotiations to sign the right-back.

It states the Toffees have offered Tete a three-year deal with improved terms.

This is a massive gamble from Moyes’ side for a player who is already about to enter the twilight of his career.

It is already apparent that Tete has an awful injury record and could be on the sidelines for much of the upcoming campaign if his past record is anything to go by.

Tete is injury-prone

Even on a free, it is hard to see the value in signing a player who is going to be injured consistently.

However, it is a major concern that Everton plan to offer Tete a three-year deal.

Everton are running out of ideas in the transfer market

Everton’s aggressive pursuit of Tete could mean one thing: Moyes is running out of ideas this transfer window.

Surely the Toffees should be looking at other targets over handing the injury-prone right-back silly terms?

There is certainly better targets out there but Moyes may have his head in the sand.

The Merseyside club have already missed out on signings such as Liam Delap, with only Carlos Alcaraz through the door.

Simply put, Everton have to start being more proactive in the transfer window or they will be in a relegation battle next season.
