Wolves told transfer target walks into Vitor Pereira's side as he channels Lionel Messi in 9/10 …

Wolves are looking to add several more new players to their squad, and one target may well be getting harder and harder to ignore.

Wolves got their first new face through the door last week with Fer Lopez.

Lopez is expected to play as the right number 10, but Wolves are expected to pursue someone for the left side to replace Matheus Cunha.

There have been suggestions that Wolves could go for someone a bit more experienced and proven.

But a player Wolves have had in their sights this summer is Harvey Elliott of Liverpool.

Elliott has cast doubt on his future at Liverpool having failed to start games regularly in recent times, and Wolves are one club who’ve shown interest.

The issue for Wolves has been Liverpool demanding over £40 million for any sale of Elliott.

But last night, he may well have shown just why Liverpool are valuing him so highly.

Harvey Elliott has been in impressive form at the Euros so far with England.

He’s caught the eye against the Czech Republic and Spain, scoring against both teams.

And last night Elliott took his tally to four for the tournament, bagging a brace against the Netherlands.

Elliott’s first goal came from the right side, as he lashed in at the near post with a fine finish after collecting a pass from Elliot Anderson.

The Netherlands then equalised after a stunning goal from Noah Ohio.

But Elliott popped up again for England in the 85th minute, waltzing to the edge of the box and unleashing a powerful drive into the bottom corner.

Goal gave him a 9/10 for his display, saying: “Went close twice early, forcing two good saves, and scored just after the hour, slamming an effort into the roof of the net after a lovely touch to control Anderson’s excellent pass. His winner was even better, slicing through the Dutch defence and finishing brilliantly. What a tournament. What a player.”

Sky Sports’ Adam Bate described Elliott as ‘the best player on the pitch’, and that his second goal was a ‘moment of magic’.

Joe Cole says Harvey Elliott channelled Lionel Messi

The plaudits for Elliott have been coming thick and fast since last night’s game.

And potentially, some of them may strike a chord with Vitor Pereira, who is currently weighing up who to sign for that other number 10 role.

Joe Cole was amazed by Elliott yesterday, saying of the Liverpool man (via BBC Sport): “Anyone outside the top six he comfortably walks into, and then two years on that level he comes back to Liverpool’s level and competes.

“He started as a young man at Fulham but his learning has been spread out. Teams from all over Europe will be looking for Harvey Elliott’s agent’s number.”

“That second goal, if Messi did this, the world would be stopping. He has this ability and the frustrating thing is he could do it on a consistent basis if he played regularly.”

There have certainly been countless times where we’ve seen Messi take the ball and waltz through the centre of the pitch to score from the edge of the box.

That Elliott has the ability to carry the ball and provide magic in those kinds of areas is bound to appeal to many clubs.
