Arsenal seem to have picked up pace in the summer transfer window.
Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga have agreed to join the Gunners, while TBR can confirm that Brentford captain Christian Norgaard is signing for Arsenal as well.
Mikel Arteta will be happy with that, but he still needs a new striker, winger and potentially even a defender too if some of his current options at the back leave.
Arsenal have been linked with quite a few players in recent months, and there is now an update on one of their targets.
Marc Guehi is ready to join Arsenal but on one condition
Arsenal are on the market for a new defender this summer.
The Gunners could lose Jakub Kiwior in the coming weeks. The Pole has been a decent backup to William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, but Arteta will need a replacement if he leaves.
Andrea Berta has considered several names, and Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is one of them.
The England defender is about to enter the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, and reports have claimed that Guehi could be available for £50 million.
The BBC’s Sami Mokbel has claimed that the centre-back would gladly sign for Arsenal this summer, but only if he is guaranteed a starting spot.
He said on the Latte Firm podcast: “Marc Guehi is a player they have looked at and they are definitely interested in.
“Of Course, if Arsenal came to him with a proposal to say ‘you’re going to be one of our starting centre-backs’, then he would run across London to do that deal. I’m sure he would.
“But, the problem Arsenal are going to face in signing a centre-back this summer is convincing them to be number three, the third-choice.”
Forget Guehi, Arsenal should go all out for another defender
Guehi is a terrific centre-back and would be a massive upgrade on Kiwior at Arsenal. But, it is extremely unlikely that he will accept being the third choice.
That makes this deal almost impossible for the Gunners to pull off, but luckily for them, there is another defender who would be an incredible option for them.
TBR can reveal that Arsenal remain interested in signing Jorrel Hato, and the young Ajax star would be perfect for the Gunners in this window.
Hato, like Kiwior, can play in the heart of the defence as well as at left-back, which means he will get more opportunities at Arsenal than Guehi would if he joined.
We think Hato is the ideal option for Arsenal this summer.
