Myles Lewis-Skelly has reportedly signed a new deal with Arsenal after enjoying an outstanding breakthrough campaign. Lewis-Skelly made 39 senior appearances last season, establishing himself as the Gunners' first-choice left-back.

The 18-year-old's performances earned him a PFA Young Player of the Season nomination alongside Ethan Nwaneri, Liam Delap, Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez and Morgan Rogers.

Reports had also claimed that Lewis-Skelly had caught the eye of Real Madrid, who were monitoring his contract situation and ready to pounce if Arsenal failed to tie him down to a new deal.

However, it was reported last week that the teenager was close to signing an extension and it has now been claimed that Lewis-Skelly has put pen to paper.

According to numerous reports, Lewis-Skelly has signed his new deal and had a photoshoot ahead of an official announcement. The new contract sees him rewarded for his form with a significant pay-rise.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is said to have been key during the talks and Lewis-Skelly has previously hailed the Spaniard as a "genius". Speaking to Sky Sports back in April, Lewis-Skelly said: "I will play wherever the manager needs me, and it is important to be versatile.

"The top players in the world are able to occupy different positions. So, for me, I will do whatever it takes to be in the team. I want to outwork my potential. I just want to be the best version of me every day.

"I feel like it would take me to a good position in this industry. I just want to be a sponge and take everything in, becoming the best version I can. His [Arteta] attention to detail is incredible.

"I love to learn so learning from him and the way he handles and approaches the games, it's fascinating. There's so much I can take from him. He's a genius really."

Earlier this month Arsenal announced that centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes had also signed a new long-term deal and they are also closing in on several signings, with Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga all set to join the club.
