Anthony Gordon has always been a player on Liverpool’s shortlist, with the Reds even exploring a deal last season when Newcastle were facing some PSR trouble.
However, over the last year or so, their interest in the attacker seems to have died down a bit, with the Magpies managing to sort out their finances in other ways.
The former Everton man is a key cog in Eddie Howe’s system, and his partnership with Alexander Isak has sometimes been frightening.
Arne Slot seems to be on a mission to improve his ranks this summer, with a new name getting linked with an Anfield switch almost every day.

The Premier League title is Liverpool’s to lose next season, and with the calibre of players they seem to be getting linked with, they’re once again looking likely to be a force to be reckoned with.
Dean Jones doesn’t think Liverpool will sign Anthony Gordon this summer
As mentioned, Gordon has been long-linked with an Anfield switch, even during his time with Everton.
However, with players such as Federico Chiesa coming in over the Englishman, talks about a Liverpool switch have died down.
And, according to journalist Dean Jones, that isn’t likely to change in the 2025-26 summer transfer window.

“I don’t think it’s, it’s just going to be that he (Wirtz) plays as a number 10 every single week,” he said on the Ranks FC Podcast.
“I don’t see that happening. It’ll be particularly interesting, actually, if Luis Diaz does end up leaving Liverpool, which is being mooted and is possible.
“Because some people are like, oh, they’ll go and sign Anthony Gordon, I’m like, will they? Will they really?
I’ll be very surprised if they do.
“I don’t think they will. I think that they’ve just signed Florian Wirtz. They’ve already got Cody Gakpo, and they’ve already got other options.”
Liverpool need to focus their attention on other areas of the pitch
Liverpool’s attack is already fairly stacked, especially now that Florian Wirtz’s transfer from Bayer Leverkusen has been finalised.
The likes of Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo are among the best attackers in the Premier League, and while some players such as Darwin Nunez and Chiesa are being linked with moves away, there’s still plenty of time for them to bring in some new players.
At the moment, the deal for Milos Kerkez still needs to get over the line, and rather than looking for new players to sign, Slot needs to figure out which players he can sell.
Jarell Quansah is already on his way out with his move to Bayer Leverkusen all but officially announced, and others such as Harvey Elliott have also been linked with a move away.

The Reds have until 1 September to finalise any deals, which gives them just over two months to finalise any deals.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what Liverpool will look like on the opening day of the 2025-26 Premier League season, but one thing is for sure: they’ll likely be an entirely new-look team, especially if all their targets end up joining.
