Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha is facing an uncertain future at the club.
Manchester United and Fulham are among the clubs linked with a move for Palhinha on loan recently, but the player wants to stay in Germany.
Palhinha got a rare opportunity to impress for Bayern against Benfica in the Club World Cup, and Vincent Kompany probably won’t be too impressed with his latest performance.

After a disastrous 2024-25 campaign, Manchester United are looking to rebuild under Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha, and they are looking to add a quality defensive midfielder to their ranks.
Man Utd are interested in signing Palhinha on loan, but Bayern could only be interested in selling him outright. They are unlikely to make a profit from his sale, but the German giants are still seeking to recoup around £30m.
While Palhinha wants to stay at Bayern and fight for his place, an exit in the summer cannot be ruled out completely.
Man Utd need a top-quality anchor in the middle of the park who has proven Premier League experience, and Palhinha could be a terrific option for them.
Bayern Munich should look to sell Palhinha
Palhinha failed to make an impact in Bayern’s 1-0 loss against Benfica, and he managed only a 5/10 rating.
Christrian Falk noted about his performance: “Didn’t do much wrong, but wasn’t the right player to have on the pitch after Bayern went a goal down and needed creativity to break down a low-block.”
The game is probably the best indication of why Vincent Kompany should look to sign a different type of midfielder than Palhinha. The club must accept that they have made a wrong choice, and it doesn’t make sense to waste a player if he is not in the manager’s first-team plans.
It will not make a big difference to Bayern even if they lose him. The money can be used elsewhere, especially on a quality left winger.
