Vitor Pereira is in the market for a left-sided defender, and one powerhouse from the Serie A could offer strong competition for Toti Gomes.
Wolves had one of the worst defences in 2024/25 before Vitor Pereira joined in December, but fortunately, the Portuguese boss was able to transform their fortunes.
Matt Doherty was moved into a centre-back role, while the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou formed a solid back three that was completed by Toti Gomes.
Santiago Bueno and Nasser Djiga were utilised as back-up options for Doherty and Agbadou, but there was no one to compete with Toti.
Wolves have no other left-footed defender in their squad, and that is why Pereira is in the market for someone to rival Toti in 2025/26.

Wolves should go for Roma defender Evan Ndicka
It emerged earlier in June that Wolves were interested in Robert Renan, someone Pereira worked with during his time at Corinthians and was sent on loan to Al Shabab in 2024/25.
Pereira is a huge fan of Renan, but despite the qualities the Brazilian possesses, he isn’t the only player the Portuguese tactician should be looking at.
As revealed by Italian outlet La Repubblica, Roma are willing to listen to offers for left-footed centre-back Evan Ndicka to help ease their FFP concerns.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
Standing at 6ft 4in, Ndicka is a defensive powerhouse and an aerial threat in both boxes, possessing the qualities to offer serious competition to Toti on the left side of defence.
The 25-year-old appeared in every Serie A match last term as Roma finished in fifth position, with manager Claudio Ranieri lauding Ndicka as a ‘warrior’ for his defensive contributions.
As his contract doesn’t expire till June 2028, it’s no surprise that the Italian giants are holding out for over £30 million for the Ivorian, which could put Wolves off.
However, if Wolves want to complete their defence with a quality operator, he’s someone who would arguably start over Toti.
Ndicka’s 2024/25 stats
Ndicka was a rock in the heart of the Roma defence, and similarly to Agbadou, possesses the physical attributes to become an instant hit in the Premier League.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt star has also demonstrated excellent ball-playing qualities, an attribute that Pereira looks for in a centre-back.
Evan Ndicka’s 2024/25 Serie A stats
38 matches played
92% accurate passes
16 clean sheets
3.5 balls recovered per game
3.8 clearances per game
2 assists
So, with the above statistics making for remarkable reading, Fosun could make a huge statement of intent by landing Ndicka.
