There has been a lot of attention regarding Hugo Bueno’s future at Wolves early into the summer transfer window.
After Wolves parted ways with Rayan Ait-Nouri, Bueno’s role at Molineux instantly became all the more important.
Gary O’Neil sanctioned a loan exit for the Spaniard last summer, seeing the 22-year-old spend the year at Feyenoord.
Bueno thrived at Feyenoord both in the Eredivisie and the Champions League, and while the experience will benefit Wolves once he’s returned, it’s also opened the door to an unwanted narrative.

Feyenoord aren’t giving up on signing Hugo Bueno just yet
Robin van Persie is an admirer of Bueno at Feyenoord, which is a concern given that the Dutch club are in the process of offloading their left-back Quilindschy Hartman.
Hartman is set to join Burnley, which has made links between Feyenoord and the Wolves defender grow, but the Old Gold’s plan is clear.
Feyenoord are aware that Wolves want to keep Bueno, which should symbolise the end of the Eredivisie side’s transfer dream.
Frustratingly for those at Molineux, that’s not the case, as Dutch outlet Voetbal4u reports.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
The report states that Bueno remains a ‘top candidate’ to succeed Hartman in Van Persie’s squad, with the manager seeing him as the ‘ideal’ solution to the sale.
Voetbal4u note that a deal is ‘not a certainty’ due to Wolves’ strong stance, but that hasn’t stopped the Dutch side from giving up.
Feyenoord ‘hope’ that Wolves cooperate in a possible deal, but the club have lined up an alternative in the form of Argentinos Juniors defender Roman Vega.
Bueno certainly won those in Rotterdam over with his impressive 2024/25 campaign, putting his Wolves future under the spotlight.

Wolves will surely not sell Bueno
Wolves made their intentions for Bueno known before the defender even kicked a ball at Feyenoord.
The Spaniard signed a new contract before leaving Molineux for the season, signalling his commitment to the club, and vice versa.
It would be a huge surprise to see the 22-year-old leave now, even more so because Ait-Nouri has departed, presenting him with a vacancy on the left side.
Feyenoord understand that, but that hasn’t deterred them from showing interest in the Wolves ace, who will be eager for the transfer saga to be put to bed once and for all.
