Milos Kerkez once caused a stir with a social media post, expressing his frustration over a lack of playing time before his transfer was finalised.

The Bournemouth left-back recently returned from a break in Belgrade to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Premier League champions Liverpool. The 21-year-old has been the subject of transfer rumours over the last few weeks, and Cherries fans have now accepted the defender's inevitable departure to the Reds this summer.

During the 2024/25 season, Kerkez played all 38 matches for Bournemouth in the Premier League, scoring two goals and providing six assists that helped his team finish in ninth place. He is now poised to join Liverpool in a £40million deal, marking their third acquisition of the summer.

This follows the signings of Bayer Leverkusen pair Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz earlier in June. However, the hierarchy at Anfield might need to be cautious about Kerkez's temperament, given that he previously caused controversy during his transfer from AC Milan to AZ Alkmaar in 2022.

The full-back was part of Milan's under-19 squad at the time and had only joined their ranks a year prior, with dreams of breaking into the senior team. However, these aspirations never came to fruition for the then-teenager, leading him to post a since-deleted tweet ahead of his switch to the Dutch league.

OneFootball reports that in the tweet, Kerkez said: "Am very happy for the move I made with my family and agents, time to perform in senior team," along with a shushing-face emoji.

However, this post was swiftly deleted and replaced with: "Wait for tomorrow," using the same emoji. The following day, on January 29, Kerkez's transfer to AZ Alkmaar was officially announced.

He spent a season and a half in the Eredivisie, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in 57 matches for the club. Now in 2025, Kerkez has become a key player for Bournemouth, clocking up 74 appearances over two full seasons and earning praise for his defensive prowess.

Liverpool might need to tread carefully with the young talent, though. Despite boasting a wealth of experience at both club and international level, with 23 caps for Hungary, the young defender's past behaviour suggests his attitude may need some managing.

Given his hefty price tag, it's expected that he'll be Slot's first choice next season. However, Liverpool still have Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas on their squad list for now.

Robertson has been rumoured to be on Atletico Madrid's radar after a mediocre season in the backline, while Tsimikas is reportedly weighing up his place in the pecking order after stepping up when needed during the title-winning campaign.
