Man Utd chiefs furious over Alejandro Garnacho publicity stunt, Ineos step up efforts to offload winger

Alejandro Garnacho’s days are numbered at Manchester United after infuriating club chiefs with his recent behaviour on social media.

The mood at Manchester United was low at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Following a turbulent campaign, which included losing the Europa League final and finishing 15th in the Premier League, Ruben Amorim will demand significant improvements from his players when football returns.

Many United players have made their final appearances for the club, including Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans, with more transfers expected to take place between now and the transfer deadline.

There has been speculation that players like Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund could follow them through the exit door at Old Trafford.

Amorim is tasked with building a team that will bring success back to United. Ineos must prove they are going to back their head coach, since another season without the Champions League would prove costly.

Man Utd may sell Alejandro Garnacho in cut-price deal

Garnacho grabbed the headlines recently after showing his support for Marcus Rashford by posing in his Aston Villa shirt on holiday.

The Argentine posted a picture on his social media of himself wearing a Villa shirt with ‘Rashford’ on the back.

With Amorim falling out of favour with both players over the past six months, Garnacho’s post led to backlash from United fans, who felt the youngster was guilty of disrespecting his manager.

According to the Daily Star, United have told Garnacho to find a new club with Ineos chiefs seething with his decision to model a Villa shirt for Instagram.

United will now step up efforts to offload the winger.

The problem is they may now be forced to accept a cut-price deal, with United desperate to find Garnacho a new club.

It is understood that United value Garnacho at £60 million, but accept his current situation means they are unlikely to get that fee for his signature.

Ineos might have to accept a bid of around £45 million instead, which would make it a cut-price deal for any potential suitor.

Garnacho misses opportunity to join Napoli

The departure of Garnacho has been on the cards for some time.

With the transfer window open, it’s time to find out who is genuine about their interest in the United forward.

One club linked to Garnacho has been Serie A champions Napoli, after the Italian outfit famously bought Scott McTominay from the Red Devils last summer.

Antonio Conte’s side are looking to sign a long-term replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who joined Paris Saint-Germain back in January before going on to win the Champions League.

However, Fabrizio Romano claims Napoli are now in talks with PSV Eindhoven over a deal to sign Noa Lang, which could see the Serie A club drop their interest in Garnacho.

🚨🔵 Napoli had direct meeting with PSV Eindhoven today for Noa Lang deal with official proposal still being discussed.

It remains to be seen who else will show an interest in Garnacho.

Chelsea have been linked, but it remains to be seen if United will sell the young forward to a direct Premier League rival.
