Man Utd aim to add attacking talent to their squad in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United have reached a basic agreement to sign Bryan Mbuemo from Brentford in the summer transfer window. It is understood United are happy to pay a £60 million base fee for the forward, with add-ons set to take the overall package towards roughly £65m.
Brentford have used the transfer of Matheus Cunha as a benchmark for Mbeumo and believe he should be valued at least as highly as the Wolves star, who has joined United for £62.5m. The London club initially set a £65m valuation for Mbeumo and made it clear he was not for sale unless a side paid the bulk of that fee upfront.
United remain confident they will wrap up a deal for the 25-year-old soon and have him in place when they begin their pre-season schedule early next month. Right now, the only thing left to do is finalise the payment structure of the £60m and determine achievable add-ons that both clubs are happy with. Mbeumo will then be permitted to undergo a medical and complete his media duties as a new signing.

Manchester United plan to overhaul attack
Ruben Amorim has prioritised attacking reinforcement in the summer transfer window as he looks to make Manchester United a more potent side next season. The United head coach aimed to add two attacking midfielders and a striker to his squad this summer and is well on course to doing that with two of the three positions soon to be filled.
Amorim also expressed his preference to sign Premier League-proven players as he aims to improve the overall fitness and athleticism of his squad ahead of a campaign in which they will only play domestic matches. He felt his side lacked the physical traits to compete in the Premier League last season, with United much better during European games.
Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both tick every box of what Amorim wants from a player this summer, with the duo both excited by the challenge of bringing success back to Old Trafford. They will both arrive on the back of stellar individual seasons that saw them score a combined 35 times in the Premier League. United managed just 44 league goals as an entire team.
United are still eager to sign a striker this summer and are keeping their options open. While they will be able to fund Cunha and Mbeumo from their initial transfer budget, there is an acknowledgement that they must sell before they buy in the final forward position. Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all available for transfer, with the preference for permanent exits for each of them, though there is an acceptance that a couple might need to leave on initial loans.
