Latest buzz suggests Brian Thomas Jr. isn’t the only young Jaguar ready to dominate

After emerging as one of the best receivers in the league as a rookie last season, Brian Thomas Jr. is entering year two with the Jacksonville Jaguars with high expectations. Playing in all 17 games, Thomas caught 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was third in receiving yards and tied for sixth in receiving touchdowns. He also made the Pro Bowl as a rookie.

Now, entering year two with Trevor Lawrence, and with Liam Coen taking over as head coach, Thomas is expected to elevate his game to another level. After making a ton of plays throughout the offseason program, Thomas is seemingly on track to meet everyone’s high expectations. However, he isn’t the only young Jaguars player on the verge of stardom.

In a recent piece by The Athletic, highlighting one key observation from all 32 teams’ offseason workouts, Jeff Howe explained that Thomas and young corner Tyson Campbell are pushing each other every day to be better. With their battles set to resume in training camp, both young guys could emerge as stars for Jacksonville in 2025.

"Thomas and Campbell had terrific offseason battles. It should be a foreshadowing of some must-see training camp matchups. Thomas should make a big second-year jump, and Campbell is an ascending player who has flown under the radar. But those daily competitions should make two very important players even better in 2025."

Tyson Campbell could emerge as a star alongside Brian Thomas Jr. for Jaguars

Thomas’ productive rookie season has received it’s fair share of attention, but Campbell has consistently flown under the radar since entering the league back in 2021. Being drafted in the second round, he became an immediate starter for Jacksonville as a rookie, and has since started 54 of the 55 games he’s played with the Jaguars. In those games, he has six interceptions, 36 pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and 262 total tackles.

Last offseason, he signed a four-year, $76.5 million extension with Jacksonville, establishing himself as an important part of the team’s core. Now, he’s entering his fifth season in the league at just 25 years old, and could very well just be entering his prime. If he has a breakout year for the Jaguars in 2025, he will help the team return to contender status.
