Report: How much Bryan Mbeumo will really earn at Man United after Newcastle balked at his…

Newcastle United were put off Bryan Mbeumo because of his wage demands, as he gets set to join Manchester United.

The 25-year-old is closing in on a move away from Brentford. Man United have offered £60million+ for Mbeumo, as he prepares to change clubs.

The Red Devils have gazumped Newcastle United, with Mbeumo preferring a switch to Old Trafford rather than St James’ Park. In truth, the finances were never going to work for the Magpies.

Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle thought Mbeumo was too expensive. On top of that, Mbeumo’s wage demands were ‘impossible to match’. He wanted to become Newcastle United’s highest earner. That honour currently belongs to Bruno Guimaraes, who is rumoured to earn around £160,000-a-week.

How much Bryan Mbeumo will earn at Manchester United

While Newcastle have been unwilling to commit the money required to land Mbeumo, Manchester United are pressing ahead with a blockbuster deal.

According to the Guardian, Brentford expect Mbeumo to join Manchester United after agreeing an initial fee with Ruben Amorim’s side.

The report adds that Mbeumo is expected to earn similar wages to Matheus Cunha, who signed a £150,000-a-week deal to join the Red Devils earlier this summer. That is not including bonuses.

Without bonuses, Newcastle United could have afforded to make Mbeumo their highest-paid player. However, the Magpies’ pursuit of Mbeumo came at a time when the club are already preparing to smash their wage ceiling.

Despite relentless talk of a move to Liverpool, Newcastle are going to keep Alexander Isak. He will not be sold this summer, while the club are actually planning to extend his contract.

Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle will make Isak their highest-paid player, as they aim to agree a deal later this summer.

Given Newcastle’s desire to hand Isak a pay rise, that would have limited their capacity to invest in Mbeumo, both in terms of the fee and his wage demands. The Cameroon international was simply too expensive for Newcastle United, as every penny matters in the world of PSR.
