Nottingham Forest and Timothy Weah transfer latest as €14m talks clarity emerges

Nottingham Forest have not yet spoken to Juventus’ Timothy Weah, despite reports to the contrary.

That’s according to The Athletic who say there have been discussions between the clubs but there has been no contact with the player, either over personal terms or ‘Forest’s vision’ for the winger.

They insist Weah is ‘focused’ on playing his part in Juve’s Club World Cup campaign, with the Serie A outfit due to face Manchester City today.

However, they do claim a move to Forest would be ‘a positive development’ for the United States national team given the fact he would be used as a winger, rather than all over the team as Juve have deployed him.

They describe Weah as ‘ a difference-maker and a good personality’ in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad and believe the right move would further enhance his profile.

Whether that’s to Forest or not remains to be seen.

The 25-year-old still has three seasons left on his deal but it has been reported he would be available for around €14million. He has made 78 appearances, scored seven goals and provided seven assists in his two seasons in Turin.

He would come in to add depth or even challenge the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga, with speculation around the Reds’ futures of Ramon Sosa and Jota Silva who haven’t put much pressure on Nuno’s starting wingers.

Forest have also been linked with a move for Weah’s Juve team-mate Samuel Mbangula, who at 21-years-old has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign.
