‘Berta hasn’t forgotten him’–Director leading Arsenal interest in€30m+ transfer

Arsenal and Atlético Madrid are considering a move for Inter Milan’s Carlos Augusto this summer.

That’s according to FcInterNews, who state Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is leading their pursuit.

Berta spent 12 years with the La Liga club and stepped down from his role as a director in January. Two months later, he joined Arsenal.

Los Rojiblancos have long been following the left-back even when Berta was at the club. The report states the Italian had carefully evaluated his profile before leaving the club for the Gunners.

Atlético are still in the picture for the 26-year-old, while FcInterNews indicate Arsenal’s interest is mainly because of their director. They state, ‘Berta hasn’t forgotten him’.

The Brazil international joined Inter permanently in 2024, a year after joining them on loan from Monza. He was a regular at the San Siro under Simone Inzaghi, who has been replaced by Cristian Chivu.

FcInterNews say Augusto was ‘immediately embraced’ by Chivu and therefore, the Serie A club haven’t placed him on the market. If there’s a sale, the report states the Nerazzurri will need ‘at least €30m’ to start a negotiation.
