Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has fired back at former teammate David de Gea as their online tongue-in-cheek exchange continues. Despite leaving Old Trafford in 2023, the Spaniard's affiliation with the club hasn't wavered, nor have some of his relationships with those he shared a dressing room with.
The shot-stopper has enjoyed life away from the Premier League after finding form in Serie A with Fiorentina, after a long wait to return to professional football. De Gea established himself as key player in the squad and was even subject of links back to United during Andre Onana's difficult spell between the sticks.
Despite facing an uncertain future at the Theatre of Dreams, Rashford has been stepping up his preparations for another professional campaign and away from the gruelling off-season regime, he has been enjoying the Padel craze.
The England international has engaged in back-and-forth with the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo regarding the bat-and-ball sport but has enjoyed tongue-in-cheek jibes with De Gea.
On Wednesday, the Spainish shot-stopper posted a picture to his Instagram story, sitting down with the Padel racket, with the caption: "Waiting for you [laughing and eyes emoji]."
Rashford couldn't resist firing back with: "Come to Manchester [eyes and rolling on the floor emoji]."

The 27-year-old could be a part of the playing squad that is culled this summer with Ruben Amorim ringing the changes for his first season in charge of the club.
Rashford spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa and it remains to be seen whether Unai Emery's team will return to the table to bring him to the club on a permanent basis.
The forward's form at Villa Park earned him an immediate recall into the England set-up and the MEN reported last week that he is looking to join a Champions League club, with United preparing to allow him to leave on loan for the season.
It is understood that lucrative offers from Turkey and Saudi Arabia have not been entertained.
Senior United figures expect Rashford to move abroad this summer, although Rashford has not ruled out joining a Premier League club he does not want to move to London - different to Jadon Sancho, who made the loan switch to Chelsea last season.
The 27-year-old is still under contract until 2028 and sources close to the player insist he is not prepared to take a wage cut on his £325,000-a-week salary, restrcting him to a handful of suitors.
Transfer chiefs at Old Trafford want to sell Rashford, Antony, Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho but face significant obstacles with the majority of the forwards.
Sancho is out of contract next season, while Garnacho was told by the United head coach that he could leave the club before omitting him from the squad for the final day win over Aston Villa.
