Everton are weighing up a potential move to sign Al-Hilal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic as they continue their search for a new number nine.
That is according to former Man United and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 30-year-old fits the profile that David Moyes is looking for.
Scouts had hoped to track his performances against European sides at the Club World Cup, but he has so far missed out on their games with an injury.
There are also doubts about his wage demands and consistency, while the Toffees have their sights set on a number of alternative targets for the position.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 8 June that Everton face a “huge” challenge to sign Mitrovic and would need Al-Hilal to contribute to his wages to complete a deal.
Moyes’ side’s interest had emerged as Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to leave upon the expiry of his contract, forcing Moyes into the transfer market in search of a striker.

Everton make Aleksandar Mitrovic after Calvert-Lewin exit
Brown told Football Insider last month that Everton are lining up replacements for Calvert-Lewin and have already begun working on deals behind the scenes.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United and worked closely with Moyes during his time at West Ham, insisted Mitrovic is among their options but doubts have emerged.
“*Everton have been looking at Mitrovic,*” he told Football Insider.
“Scouts are hoping to watch him at the Club World Cup to see if he can perform consistently against top-level European teams after his time in Saudi Arabia.
“He fits the right profile for Moyes, he’s looking for a big physical forward.
“He’s difficult to play against, causes problems for defenders and has a very impressive goal record.
“There are a few concerns, though.
“He can go through games barely having a kick of the ball because he’s not the type of forward to work hard when he’s not in possession.
“If Everton have plenty of the ball and can get it in the box, he’ll be dangerous, but if they can’t then he’s a bit of a liability.
“Plus, he’s on massive wages out in Saudi Arabia so they’re not going to be able to match those.
“So he may be on their radar and he’s one they’ve been watching, and I can understand why.
“But that doesn’t mean much because there are a whole host of forwards they’ve been watching.
“They need to replace Calvert-Lewin and they have a few names they’re looking at to do that.”

Jarrad Branthwaite contract update emerges
Moyes’ plans to strengthen his Everton team are not limited to signing new players, as he is also aiming to keep their best options at the club.
Brown told Football Insider on 24 June that Everton want Jarrad Branthwaite to renew his contract and are confident of reaching an agreement with the defender.
The Toffees previously moved to deter interest in the defender with a £100million price tag, and are now seeking to solidify their position with the offer of a new deal.
Football Insider first revealed in March that Everton want Branthwaite to sign a new contract and are preparing to open talks at the end of the season.
