Manchester United have been handed a major boost after Viktor Gyokeres informed them that he wants to join the club this summer instead of Arsenal, according to TEAMtalk.
The Red Devils are desperate to bring in a new striker during the transfer window as Ruben Amorim looks to shape the squad in his own image, following a horrific campaign in 2024/25 as they finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final.
But after a move for Matheus Cunha was completed, and as the club edges closer to finalising a deal for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, they have now been handed good news on their striker hunt.

Swede was giving priority to Arsenal

Gyokeres was seen as the top striker target at Old Trafford this summer due to his relationship with Amorim, with the two working together at Sporting CP - where Gyokeres has scored 97 goals in 102 games.
The 27-year-old, who has been described as 'the best striker in the world' and a 'game-changing' striker, was said to be looking to play Champions League football in the 2025/26 season and had given his priority to United's rivals Arsenal.
But with the Gunners seemingly prioritising a move for RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko instead, and Sporting CP playing hard-ball over his price, journalist Fraser Fletcher now says that he has told Man Utd he wants to join them this summer.
Man Utd and Gyokeres' agent have held talks about a transfer, but while the player's camp expected to be able to leave the club for around €70m (£60m), Sporting's president has since denied that is the case which has caused a stalemate in negotiations about a deal.
As a result United are likely to need to make sales before they can push ahead with a move for the former Coventry star, which means this is a saga that could drag on for a little while longer.
