Championship club boss sends warning to Leeds United – Whites could revisit move for star player

Last summer was a frustrating one for Leeds United boss Daniel Farke. He lost some of his best players during the summer, and the replacements arrived late in the window.

Leeds also missed out on Gus Hamer, after Sheffield United rejected their bids. Daniel Farke then decided to move forward with Brenden Aaronson in the number 10 role. The American had a good season, but fans still want him to be replaced heading into the Premier League.

The Whites are expected to be back in for Hamer this summer. Reports claim that a decision will be made between the Sheffield star and Aston Villa’s Emi Buendia.

New Blades boss Ruben Selles has sent a strong warning to clubs trying to sign his players this summer:

“I think it’s a really good sign that you have players with already some interest, because that means you have really good players for the level and that’s what we want. We want to have really good players and to achieve the very best in the season.

“And for that, you need to fight sometimes, and that’s what we’re going to do. For me, all the names you said are players we want to come with and obviously if something happened there, we will try and find the proper replacement for them. But right now, the ideal outcome is to keep them all together.”

Hamer could provide variety in attack

Last season saw Leeds play a very wing-play oriented style under Daniel Farke. The fullbacks and wingers in the team had a lot of responsibility in the build up and the final touches in the box. Joel Piroe lead the scoring charts, with the next two players being wingers in the team.

Dan James and Manor Solomon had to carry the attacking load alongside Piroe. Brenden Aaronson also contributed, but he lacked creativity. Adding Gus Hamer to this squad brings some creativity and dynamism in the middle of the park.

Leeds only had two players in the top 10 of the Championship for chances created, Hamer would certainly provide a huge boost in this aspect.
