This morning, Tijjani Reijnders has made a bit of a shock admission about AC Milan considering he has only just moved.
There is, and will be, a feeling of regret and loss about Reijnders’ departure for some time. Milan had one of the best midfielders in Europe, tied to a long contract, and instead, he left for Manchester City. Of course, the statements from the management do not help either.
Now, the Rossoneri are left rebuilding the midfield, without a star to embed within it, at least not yet. So, in many ways, it is a situation similar to his own arrival, which was sanctioned by the sale of Sandro Tonali.
Reijnders’ admission
Today, the midfielder spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport (relayed by MilanNews) about the move and his interactions with Rafael Leao and, more importantly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“Do I miss AC Milan? Of course, I had two great seasons at AC Milan, and it will always remain in my heart. I only have positive feelings for AC Milan. I took this step for a sporting reason and now I’m happy at Manchester City.
“What did Ibrahimovic tell me? Ibra was happy for me and my move to Manchester City, but he would have liked me to stay at Milan. Leao? I had no contact with him; he simply congratulated me on my transfer. Now the boys are on holiday, I think they will be recovering to be ready for next season.”
It is certainly not a one-way avenue of that missing feeling. Until the new arrivals are present, it will probably remain.
