Aston Villa open the door for Leeds United to finally sign ‘huge talent’ - opinion

There is no denying that Leeds United need to turn their focus to attacking options.

Lukas Nmecha’s arrival is all well and good, but the German will need time to convince the Leeds fanbase.

Even though there have been claims that Nmecha could be the next Georginio Rutter, he’ll need to show this promise on the pitch.

Alongside the inconsistency of Joel Piroe, Daniel Farke will certainly be looking to add to his current options.

With many names being thrown about towards the 49ers, Leeds now have the perfect opportunity to sign a player they were begging for in January.

Former Leeds United target Louie Barry has fresh update on future

The talk of the town around Leeds in January was the signing of Louie Barry.

Aston Villa’s youngster was deciding his future as he was recalled from his loan at Stockport County last season.

Leeds were told to sign ‘huge talent’ Barry as he was on fire in League One, and fans were desperate for Barry to be signed.

It then became clear that Barry was a top target, but instead Villa opted to loan the striker to Hull City due to Barry’s possible improvement under Ruben Selles.

Of course, that has now proved to be the wrong decision, with Barry starting just four league games due to injury.

However, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, the 22-year-old is now on the market with Villa preparing to sell the youngster to help ease their PSR concerns.

Barry can still offer a place in Leeds’ plans

Even though the Villa striker rejected the chance to play at Elland Road, Farke would be silly not to at least consider this move.

Barry didn’t get his chance in the Championship due to injury, but he can definitely provide an option for Leeds with his versatility in attack, playing across the front three.

Adding to this, the young striker made a mockery of the third tier, and his Jamie Vardy-like presence could be a nightmare for defenders, especially off the bench, with the 22-year-old priding himself on his energy.

Barry also emulates Jack Clarke in his playstyle, as the Whites already know his sale didn’t go to plan after securing a move to the Premier League last summer.

It’s likely an offer of £12.5m would secure a move, and with Farke scrambling through his options, Barry isn’t a bad one to lean on.
