Luke Edwards says Newcastle United make £125m triple bid with all three players keen to join

· 26 June 2025, 13:30

**The frustrations of the early part of the transfer window may soon be a thing of the past as Luke Edwards claims Newcastle United have made three transfer bids.**

According to Luke Edwards' report in The Telegraph, the Magpies have placed bids for Brighton's João Pedro, Nottingham Forest's Anthony Elanga and Burnley's James Trafford.

It seems as though Edwards is including the already rejected bid for Elanga as part of his piece, as he states that all three bids have been below the selling clubs' valuations of their players.

Edwards claims that Newcastle are hoping to have at least one deal completed before the end of the next week, so that there's at least one new face in the group when the squad returns to training on 7th July.

Newcastle are negotiating on three fronts

-----------------------------------------

The report also states that talks are ongoing for all three deals, however, but that the prices paid for one deal could affect the other.

> "Indeed, if Newcastle reach an agreement with Brighton for Pedro before they agree a fee with Forest for Elanga, it may well mean they drop their interest in the latter and vice versa. Although signing both players is desirable, the situation can evolve quickly if there is progress on one and stagnation on the other."

Both Joao Pedro and Anthony Elanga are valued at £50 million in Edwards' calculations with the other £25 million being the bid for James Trafford, with add-ons to go on top.

Manchester United have killed the market

----------------------------------------

We already know that Forest want upwards of £60 million for Elanga and Burnley want £40 million for Trafford, and we've seen prices up to £70 million quoted for João Pedro, so there's a lot of work to be done yet.

Luke Edwards claims that Manchester United paying £65 million for Matheus Cunha, and being expected to pay the same for Bryan Mbeumo has inflated the market, making it difficult for Newcastle to strike deals for Elanga and Pedro.

We can see James Trafford being done before next week's soft deadline, but Elanga and Pedro could drag on for a while yet, unless Newcastle simply walk away and try elsewhere.
