Manchester United have made contact with Warren Zaire-Emery over a potential move to Old Trafford, as the midfielder’s price tag has now been revealed amid a transfer
This summer could see a large squad overhaul for Rúben Amorim after the Portuguese manager led the Red Devils to a dismal 15th place in the Premier League.
Several first-team players, including Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof, have already left Manchester United upon the expiry of their contracts.
Christian Eriksen has also departed the club on a free transfer, leaving Amorim short of options in central midfield if Bruno Fernandes continues to play as an attacking midfielder.
The £62.5 million transfer of Matheus Cunha could see Fernandes drop deeper, alongside Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte, but Amorim may favour a new option in the double pivot.
Toby Collyer and Kobbie Mainoo have both played in the two defensive midfield positions, but it appears Jason Wilcox and the recruitment team may favour Warren Zaire-Emery of Paris Saint-Germain after his impressive campaign.
Zaire-Emery price tag revealed as United interested
United have favoured signing young players since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recruitment team took charge, with Ayden Heaven and Sekou Kone two of the best examples.
This trend looks set to continue this window with Zaire-Emery, as Team Talk have reported that United have: “started making exploratory contacts to understand the possible conditions of a blockbuster deal for Zaire-Emery.”
At just 19, the midfielder has already made 125 appearances for PSG and Luis Enrique doesn’t appear to be ready to lose him. The French club have set a price tag of over £85 million for Zaire-Emery’s services.
This could price the Red Devils out of a deal for the Frenchman, having already paid over £60 million for Cunha and the same may be said for Bryan Mbeumo after the Brentford forward admitted it was his “dream” to play at Old Trafford.
Even with several players heading out of the club, potentially including Antony and Marcus Rashford, paying over £200 million for just three players could prove impossible after missing out on Champions League football.
Is Mainoo the forgotten man?
Despite his impressive performances under Erik ten Hag, Mainoo appears to have become the forgotten man at United, often being substituted onto the pitch with just 20 minutes left to play.
Just over a year ago, he scored the second goal in United’s 2-0 victory in the FA Cup final over Manchester City, but now he finds himself lucky to start a game.

With United struggling most out of possession, Mainoo often finds himself overun due to a poor press from the frontline, so Amorim began to play him in the front three.
However, this doesn’t get the best out of the academy graduate because he excels when in possession in deep positions. His talent cannot be forgotten next season, or he may seek a move away from Old Trafford to play regular football.
