There has been a lot of talk about Kobbie Mainoo’s future at Manchester United this year.
The midfielder burst onto the scene during Erik ten Hag’s time at the club, and he then made a fantastic name for himself at senior England level.
However, under Ruben Amorim, Mainoo has played just 1446 minutes of football. An injury hampered his chances of more game time, but there have been rumours about his contract situation as well.
Chelsea have been linked with a move to sign Mainoo, but there is some good news for Manchester United fans now.

The midfielder, still only 20, has all the qualities that you would want from a central midfielder, and he has produced some big performances for club and country already.
That is why Manchester United are really keen to keep Mainoo, who is about to enter the final two years of his contract.
After all the speculation, TBR Football revealed that Mainoo’s agents and United were confident of reaching an agreement, and that is still likely to happen.
GiveMeSport claim that Amorim and Mainoo held a private conversation after the end of the season to discuss the youngster’s future.
The Manchester United boss came away from that meeting with a very ‘clear’ feeling that Mainoo is ‘motivated to break into the forefront of his plans instead of agitating for a move during the summer transfer window’.
As a result, United have no interest in entertaining an offer or considering selling Mainoo. They are working on a new deal to extend his stay at the club.

Mainoo was a regular at the start of Amorim’s tenure in the Premier League, but an injury then kept him on the sidelines for 10 games.
That cost him the rhythm he needed to play consistently, and he didn’t start a single game in the Europa League when he returned from his muscle issue.
Mainoo will be hoping to have better luck with injuries this season, and the fact that his chat with Amorim went positively is great news for all parties involved.
It will be interesting to see how Mainoo will fare at Manchester United next season. If he can stay fit, we think he can become a star for Amorim in the middle of the park.
