Report: Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Everton countdown takes another surprising twist

The clock is ticking on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s time at Everton.

Four days remain before Calvert-Lewin officially becomes a free agent, as there is surely going to be a final decision made on his future soon.

After nine seasons at Everton, the striker has every right to retain his place, but it might seem fit for both parties to move on.

The reality hit that Everton signing a new striker will mean Calvert-Lewin won’t be the first choice, regardless of whether he stays.

Well, a new team in Leeds United entered the frame for Calvert-Lewin, but another twist has taken place.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Everton future takes another twist

David Moyes will have plenty to ponder over the next few months, but for now he needs to solve Calvert-Lewin’s situation.

With Thierno Barry seemingly joining Everton, Moyes is clearly unhappy with his options up front at present.

Calvert-Lewin has proven he can’t stay fit for a long period, which brings reason why this might be the case, and the 28-year-old could need a new chapter.

However, despite Leeds’ aforementioned interest, there is another twist in the tale of Calvert-Lewin’s saga.

TEAMtalk are suggesting that, despite the claims that he could make the jump to Elland Road, Calvert-Lewin is not a player Leeds will likely ‘pursue’.

Everton should avoid Calvert-Lewin concern which could backfire

There is now limited time to decide what happens next with the experienced striker.

Of course, it can’t be denied that on his day, Calvert-Lewin is arguably the best player at the club, but that hasn’t been the case for a while.

Sean Dyche claimed strikers are hard to find, so an exit for Calvert-Lewin would be risky, especially finding one that can match the quality of the striker when he is fully on it.

But the more risky in this potential exit is that Calvert-Lewin could join a fellow top-flight club.

This ultimately means that his free transfer could be one that backfired on The Friedkin Group, and it does give more reason why Moyes should pin him down to a new deal.
