Liverpool reinforce defence with breakout Premier League star

Liverpool has signed Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for £40m, making him the third major acquisition under Arne Slot and bringing the club's summer spending to £170m.

The 21-year-old Hungarian left-back agreed to a five-year contract at Anfield and successfully passed his medical.

Kerkez is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Andy Robertson and is the second full-back signed by Slot this summer, following Jeremie Frimpong's £30m transfer.

These defensive signings address the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold and the possibility of Robertson leaving, with Atletico Madrid showing interest.

Sporting director Richard Hughes, who previously recruited Kerkez for Bournemouth, facilitated the transfer, alongside Liverpool's club-record £100m signing of Florian Wirtz.
