Syracuse, N.Y. —The Cleveland Browns have signed former Syracuse kicker Andre Szmyt to a new contract.
Szmyt (6-0, 200) is officially in his first NFL season out of Syracuse.
He was originally signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and spent part of the 2024 season on the Browns’ practice squad.
Szmyt was also a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks of the UFL.
Szmyt won the 2018 Lou Groza Award as a redshirt freshman at SU and was a semifinialist for the award again in 2022.
He left as Syracuse’s all-time points leader following a six-year career that saw him hit 85 field goals and 199 point after attempts.
Szmyt also did kickoffs for the Orange in 2021, kicking for 3,321 yards on 54 attempts for an average 61.5 yards per kick.
