CITY will be up against Everton under-21s in the Vertu Trophy after this afternoon’s draw for the invited Premier League clubs.

The Bantams, Grimsby and Doncaster will be joined by the young Toffees in northern group C.

City last played Everton under-21s in 2018 – youngster Elliot Goldthorp scoring the decisive penalty in a 6-5 shoot-out success after the game had finished in a 1-1 draw.

Graham Alexander’s side played two young top-flight teams on their way to the Trophy semi-finals last season.

They drew 2-2 with Newcastle in the opening group game, losing the spot-kicks for the bonus point, but beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Villa Park in the knock-out stages.
