We've got some data from Squawka that could shed some light on the matter.
During the 2024-25 season, Manchester City's Josko Gvardiol was the best left-back in the English top flight with a Squawka score of 70%.
According to Squawka, their player rating system is completely based on the numbers the players put up across a range of on-ball events, from goals scored to tackles won.
Gvardiol won 63.58% of his ground duels last season - the best record for any left-back who played at least 1,710 minutes.
He also ranked top for the percentage of sequences that ended in a shot (2.83%) and completed passes into the final third (6.92%), while also scoring five goals for Pep Guardiola's side.
