'Would be livid': Kieran Maguire says Everton will be furious as new PSR update shared in…

Everton finally look like a club who have got their finances under control.

The Friedkin Group have landed on Merseyside and have put positive steps into action as the Toffees were in a dark place when they secured the keys.

There is an expectation Everton’s new stadium will transform the finances, with considerable new levels of revenue coming into the club.

David Moyes will be delighted to see the club in a much healthier position, as it will provide greater freedom for transfer activity.

Big changes are going to be needed at Everton this summer to close the gap on some of the top Premier League sides.

But the challenge they face has now been highlighted as Chelsea are the latest club to exploit PSR.

Everton will be furious over Chelsea PSR exploit

Everton have already seen Manchester United take advantage of PSR’s loose regulations, which has seen them make a stunning start to the summer window.

For a club like Everton who has been hit hard by PSR over recent years, this will be of huge frustration.

Speaking on social media, finance expert Kieran Maguire has shared how Chelsea’s exploits will also leave Everton and Nottingham Forest furious.

“The Premier League PSR rules are about as fit for purpose as a chocolate teapot. Chelsea FC Holdings made a profit of £128m in 23/24 after selling the women’s team to itself,” he said.

“The parent company BlueCo 22 (which owns the men’s team, the women’s team and…Strasbourg) made a loss of £430m in the same period as cannot include intra group transactions in the group accounts.

“Richard Masters keeps a straight face and says Chelsea have not broken any rules…because the rules on these types of deals are full of loopholes.

“If I was Everton or Forest would be livid.”

Everton are waiting for the new PSR window to open next month before they really dive into the summer market.

But the Toffees have seen some of the bigger clubs already splash the cash, with Chelsea beating Everton to Liam Delap this month.

Everton should not have too many concerns over PSR

The Friedkins appear to have a much greater control over the club’s finances already.

But massive improvements are set to be introduced to Everton’s infrastructure with the opening of the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton can expect to see a £70m financial boost year on year, with the state-of-the-art stadium holding the ability to increase that figure even further.

This is what will help the Blues to compete with the big six and the other clubs looking to close the gap to the top end of the table.

Exciting times lie ahead for Everton, but it is clear they are up against it when clubs like Chelsea are able to pull off stunts like this.
