Ron Harper never played a minute for the San Antonio Spurs. In fact, his final two NBA seasons, both spent with the Los Angeles Lakers, saw him go to war against Tim Duncan and David Robinson.
However, after the Spurs drafted his son, Dylan Harper, second overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, Ron is now happy to cheer for his former rivals.
Ron won five titles playing alongside Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kobe Bryant, although it sounds like he will be moving to San Antonio to help his son adjust to the NBA life. After his 15-season career, Harper briefly worked as an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons.
On top of that, he has his own line of cigars. After winning five titles, he certainly knows how to celebrate, and he wants to bring his flavor to San Antonio.
Fans were quick to offer their favorites, with Club Humidor and Cigar International being the favorites. Perhaps Harper will try to get his "Underrated" cigars on the menu at those locations, but it sounds like he is excited to be active in San Antonio.
Between Duncan, Robinson, Manu Ginobili, Sean Elliott, and Tony Parker when he's in town, the Spurs have plenty of winning talent ready to show up at the training center, but another one in Harper will certainly be welcome.
With the 14th pick, the Spurs selected Arizona wing Carter Bryant, hoping to round out their young core with a high-ceiling 3-and-D player who doesn't have a ton of experience quite yet.
