Manchester United and Brentford remain locked in negotiations over the financial figures involved in Bryan Mbeumo's imminent switch to Old Trafford, according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News understands that United are closing in on the signing of the Bees attacker following a new and improved bid in excess of £60million. United previously failed with their first bid worth £55m but are now expected to sign the 25-year-old.

United are looking to bolster Ruben Amorim's attacking options further after signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves. The Brazilian's £62.5m release clause was triggered with United and Wolves agreeing to a payment structure over two years.

Now, according to The Standard, Brentford are attempting to receive slightly more than what United paid for Cunha with a fee of £63m their target, eclipsing the Cunha deal.

It's understood that the two clubs are currently negotiating the size and achievability of the add-ons included in Mbeumo's switch to Old Trafford. Brentford want more than £7m in add-ons agreed to take them past the fee that Wolves will receive for Cunha.

The demand by the Bees isn't expected to stop Mbeumo securing his dream move to United. Personal terms are not thought to be an issue for United meaning an agreement between the two clubs could see the Cameroon international join in time for the start of pre-season.

With Cunha already through the door, United will add two players with a combined 35 goals between them last season. Amorim's men scored just 44 goals as a collective.
