Chelsea u-turn on Jamie Gittens transfer stance as Bayern Munich watch on

Dortmund and Chelsea are working on finalising a deal for Jamie Gittens.

The Premier League outfit is hellbent on bringing the left winger back to England and are understood to be prepared to get closer to meeting BVB’s demands.

Whilst Gittens is on FC Bayern’s shortlist this summer, the Bavarians are, at the moment, unprepared to pay the price tag.

The footballer registered 17 goal contributions (12 goals and five assists) in 49 appearances (across all competitions) in the 2024/25 season.

Earlier this week, representatives from Chelsea and Dortmund met in the USA.

BVB sporting director Lars Ricken led the negotiations and took a clear stance on the future of their 20-year-old winger.

Borussia Dortmund continue to demand a fee of €65m [£55.3m]. Here at CF Bayern Insider, we now understand that Chelsea are finally willing to exploit their lead in the race for Gittens.

The Blues have adapted their earlier position and are now ready to meet the Bundesliga side’s demands.

The Premier League signing Gittens isn’t disastrous for FC Bayern

The natural inclination of Bundesliga fans may be to express disappointment at another exciting talent leaving Germany for the riches of the Premier League.

There’s certainly no question that Gittens’ exit – following Florian Wirtz’s move to Liverpool – is a shame.

That said, from a Bayern perspective, it need not be considered the end of the world.

Decision-makers at Säbener Straße do not view Jamie Gittens as an option playing at a consistently high level. Or, more specifically, of a consistently high enough level to meet the high sporting demands at the Allianz Arena.

At 20 years of age, of course, Gittens can hardly be considered the finished article.

Chelsea may have the time to develop the young forward, but for Bayern – the search continues!
