Exclusive: Man Utd'monitoring'PSG wonderkid situation closely, Ineos want to compete for player they'love'

Manchester United are in the market for a new midfielder this summer, with PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery emerging as one name to consider.

The 2025 summer transfer window is still in its early stages, yet Manchester United’s recruitment plans are beginning to take shape.

Matheus Cunha has signed for United, becoming the first confirmed signing of the summer. Soon to follow Cunha through the doors, United are very close to agreeing to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

This won’t be the end of Ineos’ summer overhaul, though, as United plan to make four additional signings after Mbeumo is through the door.

One target is, of course, a new number nine, while United are also in the market for a new central midfielder to replace Christian Eriksen and potentially Casemiro.

This has seen PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery emerge as a potential summer signing.

Manchester United are monitoring Warren Zaire-Emery

With the attack now strengthened, United’s attentions are moving onto the midfield. This has seen United’s interest in Ardon Jashari growing in a bid to upgrade.

Now, there are rumours that United is holding an interest in Zaire-Emery from PSG, as Luis Enrique continues to place him low down the pecking order behind Vitinha and Joao Neves.

United in Focus have now spoken with transfer expert Graeme Bailey to learn more about these links and to understand if it is feasible.

“Zaire-Emery has been the subject of enquiries in recent weeks – Europe’s top clubs all love him and are monitoring his situation carefully, and United are one of those.

“But as it stands, PSG are not looking to let any of their young talent leave, and from what I am told, the player is not pushing for an exit, despite not being the first choice at the moment.

“He is a huge talent, as we know, and United would like to think they could compete for him, but as yet it is not a situation as far as PSG or the player are concerned.”

This would be a statement signing from Ineos, similar to last summer’s pick-up of Leny Yoro. Zaire-Emery made his PSG debut at the age of 16 and has since made 125 senior appearances for the Parisian side.

Zaire-Emery remains just 19 years old and is considered to be one of the best young midfielders in the world. But does he suit United’s needs?

What kind of midfielder is Warren Zaire-Emery?

In terms of a midfield addition this summer, Amorim wants increased athleticism in his United midfield ranks.

Zaire-Emery is known for his athleticism and physicality, with relentless running, strength, and agility helping him dominate the midfield on and off the ball.

The France international also boasts strong technical qualities, which see him as a well-rounded midfielder who would be perfect in a pairing alongside Bruno Fernandes or even Kobbie Mainoo.

Zaire-Emery’s passing is a big positive, ranking in the 97th percentile for his pass completion rate (91.7%).

That being said, the French wonderkid will likely break the bank with PSG, who are likely to demand over £80m for their academy graduate, meaning there is plenty more value in the market.
