Since confirmation of Jaka Bijol’s arrival at Leeds United, Adam Underwood’s focus seems to have turned towards the players currently at Elland Road and extending some contracts.
This week, it has been reported that Dan James is ‘close’ to agreeing a new Leeds contract. The winger is currently on holiday but upon his return, Leeds expect James to put pen to paper on a new Leeds deal.
His current contract expires in June 2026 and Everton are interested in James. LeedsUnited.News have been made aware that James is being offered a smaller wage than the one he accepted when joining.
James Debayo is also expected to sign a new Leeds contract after weeks of stalling, with the retained list on May 17 confirmed Leeds had offered him new terms. Now, details of Junior Firpo’s offer have surfaced.

Junior Firpo has actually rejected new Leeds United offer
With James and Debayo set to sign on, the Yorkshire Evening Post report Firpo was offered a new deal at Elland Road. But, the left-back has chosen to reject the offer and instead, search for pastures new.
It is claimed that the Dominican Republic international has, like James, been offered a smaller wage than the one he agreed when joining the club from Barcelona. James and Firpo both joined the club in 2021.
They joined a Leeds side that had just finished in ninth place in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa. Currently, this is a Leeds side likely to fight relegation and the wages offered by Leeds reflect that.

Junior Firpo drops enormous hint on Instagram on Thursday
Firpo could not have hinted more that he was joining Real Betis, without saying he is joining Real Betis. Reports say that Firpo is set to return to his old side Betis, and link up with Marc Roca and Diego Llorente.

On Instagram on Thursday, Firpo posted an image that sees him wearing Marc Roca’s Espanyol shirt. He accompanied the image with three emojis – a green heart, an egg timer and a football. Hardly subtle.
It sees Firpo return to Betis, six years after leaving the La Liga outfit to go to Barcelona. Leeds meanwhile, are left without a left-back but Gabriel Gudmundsson has opened the door to a move to Elland Road.
