Harvey Elliott has been sent messages by several Liverpool players after his impressive performance on international duty. Elliott was in action for England Under-21s in their Euro Under-21 semi-final against the Netherlands.
The Young Lions claimed a 2-1 win over the Netherlands, with Elliott scoring both goals for his country. The Liverpool star opened the scoring just after the hour mark and went on to score the winning goal in the 85th minute to send England through to the final, where they will face Germany.
After the game, Elliott went on to post a message on Instagram to his 2.2 million followers.
The Liverpool star posted four photos of himself celebrating his goals against the Netherlands, and accompanied the post with a wordless caption that featured a shrugging emoji.
The post has gone on to receive more than 76,000 likes, including several from his Liverpool teammates Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Andy Robertson, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Tyler Morton.
Elliott's post also received several comments from members of the Liverpool squad. Gravenberch sent a one-word message that read "crazy" and was accompanied by a fire emoji.
Kostas Tsimikas left a comment which read: "Some player," along with a red love heart emoji. James McConnell simply wrote: "Wow" in his comment, while Jones wrote: "1 more," as a reference to the upcoming final against Germany.
Elliott's performance for the England Under-21s comes amid continued speculation about his future at Liverpool.
The 22-year-old made 28 appearances for the Reds last term but was only handed six starts by head coach Arne Slot, two of which were in the Premier League.
That lack of regular minutes has led to rumours that Elliott could embark on a permanent move away from Anfield this summer.
It remains to be seen, though, where Elliott will be playing his club football next term as he continues to impress for his country.
