The Raiders selected running back Ashton Jeanty from the Boise State Broncos with the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist for the Broncos in 2024 and Jeanty had one of the best college football seasons ever.

With mandatory minicamp and OTAs in the rearview mirror, the next stop before the 2025 NFL season begins is training camp. Espn.com writer Ryan McFadden has seen this football team up close during the offseason. He said about Jeanty during the offseason so far,
“Jeanty has already made a strong impression within the organization. Coach Pete Carroll said Jeanty was “every bit” of what the team had hoped for during the offseason program, admiring his pass-catching ability and understanding of the offense. Meanwhile, offensive coordinator Chip Kelly said he’s one of the most talented running backs he has seen enter the league. During OTAs and minicamp, Jeanty received the majority of the first-team reps — a sign that he has already established himself as the team’s top running back.
“He’s such a strong and dynamic back,” Raiders starting left tackle Kolton Miller said. “Even if he gets hit, he’s still balanced, and that’s super unique.””
There is no question that Jeanty is going to be the number one running back for this team this year. A lot of Las Vegas fans are looking forward to seeing him making plays out of the backfield for them. He has a chance to go over 1,000 yards rushing during his rookie season and also have over 300 yards receiving in his rookie season as well.
Jeanty could easily have over 10 total touchdowns and be one of the top running backs selected in fantasy football leagues this fall. Las Vegas is looking to change things around offensively and be better. Having Geno Smith at quarterback and Jeanty in the backfield could potentially lead to more wins for Las Vegas in a very tough AFC West division this fall.
