Report: Wolves in contact to sign German freebie with Nelson Semedo hopes fading, Pereira…

Wolves fans are nervous for the coming days, with Nelson Semedo still yet to make a decision on his future.

Semedo has a four-year contract offer on the table from Wolves.

The wing-back has been deciding whether to extend or begin a new chapter, after spending five years at Molineux following a move from Barcelona.

Semedo informed fans after the Brentford game he was still deciding his future, which came as a bit of surprise given how emotional he was at Molineux.

Molineux News has been told that Wolves now feel like Semedo is likely to make a move overseas, rather than extend.

And so, the club are looking at potential replacements – and a somewhat surprising transfer link has emerged today.

Wolves could make free transfer swoop for Jeremy Toljan

Wolves losing Semedo would be a big blow.

He’s been a relatively consistent performer over the last two years, and in 2025 he stepped up to the plate as captain after Mario Lemina’s mid-season departure.

He may not be easy to replace.

In theory, it would take a lot of money to bring in someone as good.

But Wolves seemingly feel the void could be filled by a free agent, with Fussball Transfers now claiming that Jeremy Toljan is a target.

They go as far as to say Vitor Pereira sees him as the ideal solution, and that contact has even already been made.

Like Semedo at Wolves, Toljan’s contract at Sassuolo is about to expire. But Wolves could face competition from Genoa, who are also interested.

Toljan transfer links unlikely to please Wolves fans

It has been a slow start to the summer on the incomings front at Wolves, and the links to Toljan will probably do little to improve the mood of supporters.

It just feels a little underwhelming that Wolves would turn to a little known player from Serie B who’s about to become a free agent, to replace a really key player.

Toljan turns 31 in August, and has no international caps for the senior Germany side.

It’s a difficult one to get behind, but there is at least some sign of creativity, with Toljan supplying seven assists last term.
