Giannis Antetokounmpo trade could still happen this offseason

Despite several sizable trades leading up to the event, the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft came and went without a big bang. While we rarely see big trades in the NFL after the draft, the same is not true in the NBA, where free agency is just around the corner. So, what about those Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors?

News involving the Milwaukee Bucks has slowed down over the past few weeks, but that could be changing soon.

According to [ESPN’s NBA insider Shams Charania](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25216565-shams-says-giannis-could-still-get-traded-later-summer-after-nba-free-agency), it’s possible the Bucks still trade Antetokounmpo at some point this offseason.

> “A lot of observing. He’s been there for 12 years, so there’s going to be that equity given to the Bucks to see what they do during the draft week, free agency week. How much can they improve this team in their moves? He said it, he wants to compete for championships. Can the Bucks make those championship moves? His future, I’ve said it for the last few weeks, it won’t be tied to the draft, it won’t be tied to free agency. If there is a resolution on Giannis Antetokounmpo, it could be later in the summer.”

While all is quiet on the Antetokounmpo trade front right now, that could quickly change at any point. After all, it would just take a trade request by the Bucks’ face of the franchise to send discussions into high gear.

Yet, it’s certainly possible that Antetokounmpo prefers to wait and see how the Bucks plan on rebuilding their roster after being eliminated in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Though, perhaps it’s worth mentioning that the team that eliminated the Bucks eventually went on to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals.
