Chelsea&Man United still keen to sign£70 million defender

Chelsea and Manchester United are still showing interest in one English defender. The player has already impressed in Premier League with Everton. He is valued at £70 million by the Toffees.

Chelsea are in need of new defenders this summer. They are set to part ways with both Disasi and Veiga. In addition all Chalobah, Badiashile and Fofana have their future unsecure at West London. Hence, the Blues are likely to sign more than one defender for sure this summer.

On the other hand, Man United have lost both Evans and Lindelof. In addition, all Luke Shaw, Martinez and Yoro have been injury prone last season. Lastly, De Ligt has been under performing whereas Harry Maguire is now 32 years old. Hence, a new defender can land at Old Trafford despite it not being top priority.

Chelsea & Man United still keen to sign Everton defender

The star in question here is Jarrad Branthwaite. He is 22 year old English defender who has been with Everton since academy days. He is one of the best young centre backs in the Premier League right now and Toffees has no interest to sell him this summer. United tried to sign him last summer but Everton rejected the offer.

However, this is not stopping top clubs from monitoring Branthwaite. According to Caught Offside, Chelsea and United are still keen to sign him this summer. Everton may be tempted to sell him if their demand of £70 million transfer fee is agreed by any of the interested clubs.

Branthwaite seems like a player who is destined to play for bigger club. He too will like to play for clubs like Chelsea or United who are amongst biggest clubs in world. Hence, he can force a move away from Everton this summer. But, the Toffees will only part ways with him if their demands are fulfilled as they have the 22 year old tied with contract until 2027.
